Finding Nama

A browser game of Phuket in Wind Waker style - real coastline, freediving quest, no engine.

Finding Nama project visual

What shipped

Finding Nama is a toon-shaded 3D Phuket you can walk, sail, and dive. The island is not invented: the coastline comes from the OpenStreetMap relation for Phuket, stitched from raw ways, projected to game coordinates, and simplified with Douglas-Peucker into a 257-point outline. Landmarks sit at their real latitude and longitude - Big Buddha, Wat Chalong, Promthep Cape, Patong, Old Town, Karon Viewpoint, Sarasin Bridge.

The game is a freediving quest. You find NAMA Freediving at Rawai, try on a wetsuit, train depth aboard the boat Namo, earn a W1 certification, and only then do the six dive sites appear on the map. Clear them all and the King Cruiser wreck opens up. There is one secret at the Big Buddha that the quest panel never mentions.

There is no engine and no bundler: four native ES modules against three.js from a CDN, with world math kept free of three.js and DOM so it runs under node --test. A build step inlines everything into a single HTML file for production. World invariants are unit tested - land is above water, dive spots are in the sea, the wave formula in JavaScript matches the one in the ocean vertex shader - and a browser smoke harness plays the entire quest chain end to end before any deploy.
